Victoria ran forward, her teeth bared, her eyes locked on her opponents. Olsen and Nick stood opposite her, each defensive in nature, their expressions blank. She sprinted up between the two, her sights alternating between both, surely in an effect to prolong the use of Nick’s powers. Just as she neared, several meters away, she made her move. Stretching out her right arm quickly from behind, she swiped it up and to the left, cutting through the air before her. Almost instantaneously, Nick shook, his legs seemingly unsteady, his balance failing; the floor had broken open under him and now jutted out to his right. Olsen, risking a look to ensure his partner’s stance hadn’t faltered too badly, cost himself dearly as Tori charged, full speed ahead, at the distracted boy.
Her footsteps heavy on the concrete path behind the warehouse, Olsen took a weary step back, quickly dodging an upswung foot. Tori followed through, pivoting back on her planted foot and sending a elbow forcefully into Olsen’s chest, knocking him back a step. Nick, now up, ran forward. Knowing the boy would hesitate before doing any real damage, Tori allowed herself a quick breath before ducking a punch. From the crouch, Tori pushed forward on her legs, tackling Nick at his legs and sending him crashing to the ground under her. She rolled off swiftly and, standing quickly, pulled her arms back before pushing them forwards, sending a shatter through the ground before her and towards Nick. Olsen stepped back, careful to avoid any secondhand damage, happy to watch his two friends spar for the moment. Before the splintering earth met him, Nick threw a palm out of his own, and by the time Tori had processed his retaliation, she herself had been thrown back several steps. Nick stood up, quickly, and brushed himself off. Tori, opposite him, had a look of serious certainty on her face. She was ready to end this one on one. Olsen took a few more steps back, though neither combatant seemed to notice or care.
Tori inhaled sharply, and ran forward again. Nick, fully prepared and knowing that she had no other target this time, threw his hand out in advance, forming an almost transparent bubble around himself that Caleb noted was near invisible, had the sun not been highlighting it’s more crystalline colored borders. Tori slowed her sprint suddenly, sprung into a forward roll, and landed strong, planting herself just nearly a foot from Nick’s force field. As her hand hit the ground in front of her, she leaned into it, letting her weight and power shift to that exact spot. Her muscles tensed as the pressure built, and she focused her might on that single spot under her palm. Just as suddenly as the tension had left her upper arm, the ground beneath her sparring partner began to fragment. Nick pushed forward again in an effort to expand his energy field, but the dilation hadn’t reached Tori; it had barely stretched more than two inches. As the ground beneath Nick continued splintering, it shot up suddenly with a force that sent the boy flying. The energy around him dissipated into the air as his focus was lost, sending him straight back, where he landed hard on his side.
"Okay," he said, leaning up to look at the others; Tori first, then Caleb and Olsen. "I give, I give." Olsen walked forward to help his friend up, though at the price of a hard smack to the back of his head.
"Thanks for the help," he muttered, walking back towards Caleb.
"Sometimes you just know when to avoid an ass kicking," he said back, rolling his eyes in Tori’s direction. "Didn’t need heightened intelligence to back out of this one."
As they reached Caleb, who patted Nick on the shoulder when he approached, they were immediately drawn into smalltalk on the topic of their own powers. Tori made her way over, finally, and looked over the boys – namely Olsen and Caleb.
"So," she said, grabbing the shared water bottle from Nick’s hands. "Who’s next?"
Caleb and Olsen shared a quick look, and it was Olsen who stepped forward, cracking his knuckles.
"Come on Vicky," he said, stepping back towards where she and Nick had been sparring. "It’s you and me."
